Widgit resources

For teachers and familiesA series of widgit symbols used to communicate thoughts and ideas in a non-verbal manner.

Widgit have been developing their symbol language for over 20 years and the Sensory Trust have been an enthusiastic supporter of the symbols for a number of those years.

For 'Let Nature Feed Your Senses' we are excited to be using Widgits to help school groups and families explore farms and the countryside. We are developing a range of resources, games and activities for use in homes, schools and on farms as well as information about food, farming and nature. We will be adding to these over the coming months so bookmark this page and come back and have a look!

Widgits are primarily used to support reading and understanding for people with learning disabilities and learning difficulties in schools however they have also been used and enjoyed in other locations such as through the Sensory Trust's work with the Eden Project. At Eden they have proved to be useful and intriguing for a wide range of visitors including people with English as a second language and foreign visitors. To read more about Widgits take a look at their website - www.widgit.com - or the Sensory Trust's site to find out more about Widgits in use outdoors.
