Bug Hotel

Bugs love untidy, cosy spots to nestle in. Piles of dead wood and leaves lying around the place are a source of food to some bugs and provide shelter for others.

To make your multi-storied bug hotel you will need:
  • A flat, accessible surface in a cool semi-shaded area
  • Space to spread out the materials
  • Lots of materials such as: hollow tubes, hose, pipes, bamboo canes, reeds, twigs, flower heads, small plant pots, house tiles, fleece, branches, bricks with holes in them, bark, rocks, old straw baskets, woven cane, compost, straw...even old water bottles!
  • 5 wooden pallets stacked and tied together
Then let the assembling begin! Click here to see more photos of a bug hotel being built.
